Today Maine Trail Finder broke the 100 posting milestone and now has 103 trail postings live on the site!
While Namakanta Public Reserved Land – Debsconeag Backcountry, an advanced network of remote trails in Piscataquis County, was the 100th trail posting, many other notable trails went live today.
The other Bureau of Parks and Lands Trails were Namakanta Public Reserved Land – Turtle Ridge, another backcountry hiking experience in the remote Piscataquis County; Allagash Mountain, a trail so remote that you need a canoe the Upper Allagash Wilderness Waterway to get there; and Fort McClary State Historic Site, a set of paths that explore an historic, 275 year old fort along the Piscataqua River in Kittery.
Five urban trails went up as well in the Portland area.
These include the Presumpscot River Preserve and Oat Nuts Park, a network that leads to an unspoiled section of the Presumpscot River just before it meets the sea; Ocean Avenue Recreation Area, a trail network straddling the Portland-Falmouth town line and popular with dog owners for its Quarry Run Dog Park; Evergreen Cemetery, an extensive network of remote feeling trails behind the historic Evergreen Cemetery; Baxter Woods, an network of trails on the former property of Governor Percival Baxter; and Riverton Rail Trail, a trail following the old railroad bed of the Portland-Lewiston Railroad.
All this and we are not stopping here! Expect to see even more trails go live this week as part of our celebration of National Trails Day this Saturday!
