One Year, Many Milestones!

To our many users,

Tomorrow is the one year anniversary of Maine Trail Finder’s launch. What a great time to let you, our users, know how far we have come and celebrate our success!

When we launched the site June 18, 2010, we had just 15 trails, all in Franklin County. Today we have 112 postings for trails and systems all over the state. To give you a sense of the diverse partnerships we’ve developed over this year, there are 31 postings for state parks, 25 for land trust properties, 21 postings for public reserved lands, 10 for municipal owned trails, 9 in other state and federal public lands, and 16 postings for other community-maintained trails!

In the past year we have had just under 25,000 visitors from 75 different countries and all 50 states including Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico! Two-thirds or 66% of these are coming from Maine! Visitors have viewed approximately 95,000 pages and are spending on average just almost 4 minutes on the site which is huge for websites!

Thank you for making the site a huge success in its first year! 

We are certainly happy with how far we’ve come, but we are constantly looking to the future. In the upcoming year expect to see increased functionality for users, better search tools, improved website interface, and of course ever increasing content!

How can you make help make year 2 a big success? The biggest thing you can do is keep using the site, posting comments, and providing feedback. If you value this service, and have the means, you can also help by making a donation in any amount to the Maine Trail Finder project to help us provide this service free to public!
