This weekend check out one of two great trails event happening at a state park near you as part of the Take-It-Outside initiative! These are family friendly fun events so be sure to check the trails out on Maine Trail Finder and then check them out in person!
Saturday a guided snowshoe hike will be happening at Androscoggin Riverlands State Park (now on Maine Trail Finder!) in Turner from 10 am to 1 pm. The hike is titled “Riverlands Winter Greens,” and participants will learn how to identify trees and shrubs as well as the way these plants provide food and shelter for the animals in the park. Children can enjoy an educational program, and outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy longer tours.
Also, Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm is Family Fun Day at Aroostook State Park in Presque Isle! If you haven’t yet checked out their winter trails, now your chance! There will be a wide range of family friendly activities all day long including guided walks, equipment demonstrations, tote rides, and lunch. All activities are included with $1.50 admission for adults; children under 12 are free!
