Trailhead
From I-295 take Exit 7 toward Franklin Street. From Franklin, take first left onto Marginal Way. Follow Marginal Way until it ends. There, you’ll find trail parking and links to the Back Cove Trail, Bayside Trail, and Eastern Promenade Trails. The Bayside Trail can also be accessed at many street intersections. METRO Bus Route 8.
Description
Following a former rail line, this one mile trail traverses the heart of revitalized commercial and residential neighborhoods in Bayside and East Bayside. At its northernmost end, connects to the Back Cove Trail and Eastern Promenade. The trail offers both stonedust and paved surfaces and is very flat. There are several benches and three seasonal water fountains (for people and pets) along the trail and markers along the trail in both miles and kilometers allow users to track distances.
Other Information
The Bayside Trail is the result of a collaborative effort more than ten years in the making. The City of Portland, Portland Trails, The Trust for Public Land, the Bayside Neighborhood Association and East Bayside Neighborhood Organization have worked with stakeholders to develop and build the Bayside Trail. Once complete, it will connect across Forest Avenue to Deering Oaks Park.
