Lyseth School and Pine Grove Park

MTF

Trailhead

There are trailheads at Pine Grove Park on both Virginia Street and Ray Street and another trailhead at the far end of the Lyseth-Moore parking lot off Auburn Street. Parking at the school lot is allowed only in evening, on weekends, and during vacations. METRO Bus Routes 3 and 6.

Description

This trail was designed by 3rd-graders at Lyseth Elementary School and has involved hundreds of other students from Lyseth and Lyman Moore schools in its construction. The trail is positioned to connect the schools and neighborhoods to each other and to provide greater access to Pine Grove Park.

The Lyseth/Moore trailhead starts at the Lyseth playground. The trail is flat as it winds through the wooded terrain of the school yard. The trail then crosses Allen Avenue towards Pine Grove Park before climbing a moderately steep slope in the park. The park features rocky outcroppings and relatively open stands of mainly White Pines.
