In celebration of Great Maine Outdoor Weekend, the Upper Saco Valley Land Trust (USVLT) and Greater Lovell Land Trust (GLLT) will co-sponsor a paddle from Kezar Lake Outlet to Charles Pond on Saturday, September 14.
We will meet at the put-in on Harbor Road in Fryeburg promptly at 9:30AM. From there, we’ll make our way down Kezar Lake Outlet and up the Charles River to Charles Pond. We will be paddling through some of the most picturesque scenery in the greater Mount Washington Valley, as well as some of the most biologically rich habitat areas in Maine. You may even spot river otters, turtles, and bald eagles on our trip.
This route will take us from near the Kezar Outlet Fen, a property owned by GLLT in Lovell, to near the Stearns Preserve, which is owned by USVLT in Fryeburg. Though this is a fairly lazy river paddle, it will require portage over a small beaver dam.
Please bring your own kayak, paddle, whistle and personal flotation device. Drinking water, a snack or lunch, sunscreen and a hat are advised.
The event is limited to 20 individuals, so please register with us ahead of time to reserve your spot.
