Newman Hill is the second highest spot in Orono with nice views of Pushaw Lake and Hermon Mountain. Extensive mountain biking on singletrack and wide trail is available in summer and groomed skiing is available in the winter.

Barnard Mountain Trail is a 2‐3 hour round-trip, moderate hike off the Katahdin Loop Road. It was completed in 2014 with spectacular views of Mount Katahdin, Katahdin Lake and beyond. Perfect picnic spot, complete with a picnic table at the top! Family and pet friendly.
