Description

Reynolds Forest is a conserved area of land that is home to two trails. The first trail accessible from the trailhead is the Streamside Trail. The trail is a quick 0.15 mile trek that follows along Goff Stream. At the end, hikers are rewarded with views of the stream's coursing waterfalls. The rocks along the stream bank are an ideal spot for a picnic. From there hikers have the option of looping back through the forest to the trailhead or heading onward to the Old Farm Loop. The loop is 0.36 miles and weaves through the thick of Reynolds Forest. On the southern edge of the trail an open field can be observed, and as the trail loops back a former cellar foundation can be found. The trail and stream provide visitors with sublime birding opportunities as well as impressive wildflowers and floodplain species along the stream.

Other Information

No motor vehicles are allowed on the trails. Beware of flooding in the early spring.

This was a fast and easy hike! Nice “payoff” for the effort with a decent waterfall and a perfect rock to get a family picture on. A couple muddy spots ( we walked it the day after a solid rain) but what trail in Maine doesn’t have a little mud the first week in May! We are enthusiastic but very much NOT expert hikers and we round-tripped this in an hour without breaking a sweat... just our style!!!
