Join Skowhegan Outdoors for an out and back hike up Mosquito Mountain in The Forks! This hike features a wonderful view at the top of a 1,200-foot climb. The total distance of the hike is approximately 3 miles and can take up to 6 hours to complete, depending on conditions. This program is best suited for intermediate hikers as the hike has a hand over foot climbing section and is rated as moderate to strenuous. Participants should be comfortable being outdoors for long periods of time and hiking up moderate to steep hills.
Please arrive no later than 7:45 a.m. at the Main Street Skowhegan offices, as we will be departing in a caravan for Mosquito Mountain promptly at 8 a.m.
We recommend checking the forecast for temperature and precipitation the night before the hike so you can dress in weather-appropriate clothing, as well as bringing along lunch, smacks, water, and a backpack to carry everything in. To avoid ticks, we advise you to use bug spray, wear long pants tucked into your socks, and long-sleeved shirts. Face masks are encouraged but not required. If needed, you will have the opportunity to request a backpack, poles, or other available gear and clothing from the Skowhegan Outdoors Community Gear Library.
If you'd like to join us for this event, please preregister via the Skowhegan Outdoors website calendar.
