Follow a Raindrop and Explore Living Water in Scarborough

Scarborough Land Trust (SLT) and Friends of Scarborough Marsh (FOSM) are celebrating WATER!

SLT will be hosting a summer series for families and children in collaboration with FOSM. Each week will take a close look at water and its important role in the environment. Each session will be 2 hours long, starting at 3 PM and concluding at 5 PM.

Session 3 – Ocean (Wednesday, August 24)

The last stop will be the ocean. The beach is a great place to witness the power of water. Watching the waves, understanding the tides, collecting seashells are all fun ways to explore and appreciate salt water systems. We will search through intertidal pools and discover beach critters. Learn about “Leave no trace” policies and understand what shouldn’t be taken away from the beaches. (Location TBD).

Along the way, we will be using a refractometer to measure the salinity of the water at each location.

Cost: FREE

Recommended Age: 8 years and older (All children must be accompanied by an adult).
