Join Rangeley Lakes Heritage Trust staff for a Walk in the Woods at the Hunter Cove Wildlife Sanctuary. This Walk in the Woods weekly program is designed to introduce the community to our 32 miles of recreational trails around Rangeley. Bring your family, meet your neighbors, and make some friends as we explore new trails throughout the summer!
The Hunter Cove Wildlife Sanctuary trail system winds through 100 acres of forested land on a beautiful half mile section of Hunter Cove on Rangeley Lake. The property provides habitat for a host of song birds, wading birds, amphibians, and features a critical deer wintering area. There are several low lying wet areas that feature extensive sections of bog bridging. Prepare for muddy conditions and wet feet.
Directions: The trailhead is on ME-4 4.5 miles north of town, or 3 miles south of Oquossoc. You will see the sign on the west side of ME-4 near the bottom of Dodge Pond Hill.
Put on sturdy shoes, grab a bottle of water and charge your camera. We'll see you at the Trailhead!
