Midcoast Conservancy will host its ninth annual Biathlon at Hidden Valley Nature Center in Jefferson. All ages and skill levels are encouraged to participate! Racers can compete individually or in teams of four, and everyone is encouraged to compete in costume.
Paintball rifles are provided by Midcoast Conservancy, and each racer will receive safety training on how to use the rifle. There will be snowshoe and fat bike races as well. Gear rentals will be available at the event.
Races will begin about 10am and continue into the early afternoon. There will be bonfires throughout the day, along with veggie chili and hot chocolate from the Alna General Store. Spectators are encouraged. Consider volunteering if you are not planning to race, we can always use extra hands!
Races consist of 1k laps (number determined by level) with turns at the shooting range. Awards will be given out for best costume, best team name, and for youth and high school aged participants.
In the event there is no snow, the Biathlon will still held, and trail running will replace skiing and snowshoeing. The Biathalon will be postponed for dangerous conditions only.
$20 for adults, $10 for kids and students. Space is limited and prices go up $5 per participant on February 17.
Register online. Day-of registrations as space provides.
