On this Maine Appalachian Trail Land Trust winter Community Hike, will we head up Cranberry Peak (3,214 feet) in the Bigelow Range via the Bigelow Range Trail. This will be an up-and-back hike up the Bigelow Range Trail, with a distance of 3.2 miles each way for a total distance of 6.4 miles. The trail is moderate for most of the first half and then emerges onto open ledges and low spruce forest for the remainder. The views from the summit of Cranberry Peak are excellent.
We will send an update two days before the hike to everybody who has signed up. Snowshoes and microspikes or other shoe traction will be required for this hike.
We will meet in the trailhead parking area at the end of Currie Street (sometimes spelled “Curry”) in Stratton. Carpooling will be arranged.
