Explore Maine’s winter splendor at Merrymeeting Fields Preserve in Woolwhich on Nordic skis and snowshoes. Skiing and snowshoeing starts at 11am and includes instruction, hot cocoa, and adventure!
This event is being held thanks to a collaboration between Kennebec Estuary Land Trust, Phippsburg Sportsman’s Association, and Maine Youth Sports Opportunities (MYSO).
Chuck Mainville of MYSO, a Nordic skiing program for area families, will be on hand to lead the cross country skiers. The fields and nearby paths sport gentle slopes and a variety of trail lengths, to make it the perfect location to learn and to improve cross country ski skills.
Novice to experienced skiers and snowshoers are welcome. There is a limited supply of Nordic equipment and snowshoes to loan for children and adults,though not all fits are available. Please include at registration if equipment is desired (boot size, height, and weight are needed to borrow ski equipment).
