This is a 10.5-mile white wate race. The race course is in a beautiful, remote setting, beginnning at First Machias Lake and finishing at the Airline Bridge. The course covers a mile-long lake, then about nine miles of scenic flatwater interspersed with a few Class II/III rapids.
Registration begins at 9:00AM the morning of the race, at the Wilderness Lodge at SR-9 in Cherryfield.
Helmets are required for both kayaks and canoe paddlers. Airbags recommended. The same classes will be held both days; participants aren’t allowed to race in the same class twice (Except if you are racing in the Jr/Sr class). There will be a raffle held after the awards on Sunday, following the race. Wilderness Lodge will have their food truck open and rooms available for rent.
