Description

This paved trail near downtown Ellsworth offers a great place to walk pets, stretch your legs on a lunch break, or utilize as a part of a longer running loop around town. It is easily accessed from the high school parking lot. The southern section passes between residential neighborhoods and businesses; the northern section is quieter, passing by woods and wetlands.

The paved, 8-foot wide surface is flat, never exceeding a 2% grade. There are some minor disruptions of the surface in the form of bumps or cracks, but these are primarily along the outside edges of the trail. The trail entrances include bolsters to keep out motorized access, with 3 feet of tread width to pass through them.

Trail Tips

RESPECT MAINE CULTURE AND LEAVE WHAT YOU FIND

Respect Cultural Sites: Observe historic structures and artifacts but leave them untouched, and only visit areas open to guests. Taking or moving historical artifacts can erase some of our only records of that history.

Trailhead Information

This trail can be accessed by any of the roads it crosses between Ellsworth Falls and Birch Avenue, its in-town terminus. Parking is most readily available at Ellsworth High School, off of US-1A.
