Description

The Norway Rail Trail is a popular local shortcut between the Gouin Athletic Complex and ME-26 strip in South Paris and Norway's downtown. It follows a decommissioned rail line for 0.6 miles trailhead to trailhead, crossing two roads and passing behind several neighborhoods. Bikes are welcome on the trails, but please be aware and respectful of pedestrians.

Respect Wildlife
Keep your pets under control at all times, to protect both them and wild animals, fragile environments, and the enjoyment of other visitors.

Trailhead Information

Visitors to the Norway Rail Trail may park at either the South Paris or the Norway end.

  • South Paris: park in the skate park lot across from the Dead River truck depot on Charles Street (turn off of 26 at the Paris Farmers Union). The trailhead is directly across Charles Street, just follow the old rail ties.
  • Norway: park in the dirt lot across the street from the Norway Fire Department and Town Office on Beal Street. The trailhead is at the back right corner of the lot.
