The Pineo Peaks Trail explores a remote section of the Community Forest, located entirely within an ecological reserve. The trailhead on the left (north side of the road) leads 0.6 miles up to Pineo Peak and winds through mixed hardwood forest, climbing a ridge with partial views of West Grand Lake. Near the top, the trail forms a small lollipop loop, exploring unique geological formations of granite ledges, small crevasses, and extensive caves and rockfalls. Round-trip the hike is 1.3 miles. Please note, this trail is steep in places and may become treacherous in the winter months.
For an easier hike, at the trailhead take the trail on the south side of the road. This trail parallels the shore of West Grand Lake for 1.6 miles, crossing Obbrook Stream, and ending at the Princeton Island campsite on the shore of the lake.
