This section of the Sebago to the Sea Trail follows the paved Mountain Division rail trail between Otter Ponds and South Windham. The eastern section of this combined trail passes near Shaw Park, crosses the Presumpscot River, and then cuts through the Gambo Recreation Area. These public lands provide great side trail adventures [see linked postings in Trail Map tab].
At the western extent of this section of the Sebago to the Sea Trail, near Otter Ponds, the Mountain Division Trail continues farther west, departing the old train tracks and passing through conserved woodland on an unpaved gated road. This section of the Mountain Division Trail may be used to access the Sebago to the Sea Trail from ME-35 at Johnson Field.
