Bucksport's Waterfront Walkway is a popular attraction for visitors and locals alike. With public restrooms conveniently located at two locations along the walkway, views of the Penobscot Narrows Bridge and the historic Fort Knox across the river, and gardens & water fountains that offer space to reflect, the Waterfront Walkway encourages families to spend quality time together in downtown Bucksport.
The 6-foot wide walkway is paved with bricks, and is mostly flat, making it suitable for strollers, wheelchairs, and those with mobility challenges. Many benches along the walk offer plenty of places to stop and rest and take in the view. Where the walkway juts out near its east end, some bricks have fallen from the outer edge of the walkway at the corner, narrowing its width. There is a hill a quarter-mile west of the US-1 bridge that goes up then down again over about 0.1 miles with a grade of 10-13%, and a 10-foot section with a grade of 15%.
