Description

This extensive trail network is the main access to over 1300 acres of pristine wildlife habitat and, combined with adjacent land in Arundel and Biddeford, makes up one of the largest un-fragmented parcels on the Southern Maine Coast. The Jim and Agnes Steele Trail is currently the longest trail and starts at the beginning of the Guinea Road. The trail crosses the highest elevation in Kennebunkport and has many large ledge outcroppings, vernal pools, and rare and uncommon flora and fauna. Other trails break off this main trail to provide trail experiences of varying lengths and difficulties.

Much of the land was deeded to the Trust by the residents of the Town of Kennebunkport and the balance was purchased or donated by Jim and Agnes Steel.

Other Information

KCT trails are not for commercial use. If you are interested in having an organized event on our trails, please contact the trust.

Also, due to the sensitive nature of rare flora and fauna and changing weather conditions, we do not allow motorized vehicles on our trails. Handicapped persons should contact the Trust and we can provide access to a limited portion of the trails.

Very nice trail. Really well marked. Good base with lots of rock and roots to watch out for, but moderate amount of work.

What a gem! Went on a trail run here while my family went on a mountain bike ride around the big loop. We went on a Sunday evening and encountered only one other hiker. Wrapped up our adventure just after sunset, when the chorus of peepers was at full volume. A few muddy spots, but overall the trails are in great shape.

Great hike, easy and relaxing, with lots of visibility down the trail on Steele (important since we always bring the dog and dont want to sneak up on people since he's huge). Nice detour on Brook - hoping to follow all the way through the Bobcat look next time.

Loved this hike! Bad weather forced us to turn back after 3 miles, but we will definitely go again. Signage is great, well-maintained paths with a great mix of terrain. You can keep up a good pace and look around as well! I read a Yelp review that said it was boring, but we did not find it so. It's a Preserve, not a mountain, so expect winding paths through trees, ferns and babbling brooks. We encountered one other person and heard another party off in the distance-pretty much had it to ourselves!

Wonderful trail! Very well groomed, plenty of options for both quick/easy hikes and longer moderate ones. Beautiful area.

Wow. This was an amazing walk with a variety of terrain from easy forested paths to twisty up and down ridge trails. I walked 8 miles in this lovely preserve and enjoyed every moment of it. If you are in the area it is not one to miss.
