Description

The Law Farm Loop Trail is a self-guided interpretive trail, just over a mile long. Starting at the trailhead by the parking lot, the trail passes the Children's Garden and joins the Bog Walk Trail, which connects to a boardwalk overlooking a northern white cedar wetland. This area offers a peaceful spot to enjoy wildlife on the observation deck.

The Law Farm Loop Trail continues on from the observation deck, marked with white blazes, arrows and educational signs along the path. The trail comes to a winding end behind an organic Christmas tree stand, planted through the "Kids and Trees" program. Also near the end of the trail is the most northern American chestnut germplasm orchard in the United States, which can be viewed from the picnic area near the parking lot where the loop trail connects back to the trailhead.

Other Information

Please follow a "leave no trace" policy and stay on the trail to minimize your impact on the land. Pets are welcome as long as the owner has them under their control. There is no hunting allowed on the property. The Law Farm was donated to the Piscataquis County SWCD in 2009 from the Law family to carry out the mission of managing the forest and teaching others about the importance of stewardship of our natural resources.

Did this trail yesterday with our 3 year old daughter - and had a blast!

The trail is very wet right now (resulting in a wet sock!) and there are a few fallen trees blocking the path - but still very manageable and the entire family had a great time.

It is very obvious as you walk it that someone spent a lot of time and effort making it a great trail for kids - much appreciated!

This trail was a lot of fun. My son and I walked this today for our first time ever, and found the trails very easy to follow. One spot was a bit mucky, but wasn't impassable. Highly recommend!

@Talkingtent thank you for your feedback! We are always battling those invasive rasberry bushes! June 6th, 2020 is our Volunteer workday and will be tackling the wet spots with new bridge work. We hope you enjoy our trails in the future!

Very wet as of 10/25/19. Prickly bushes need to be cut back.
