Corea Heath Trail is a 0.2 mile wheelchair accessible trail surrounded by stunted trees and shrubs. The flat, gravel-surfaced trail leads to an observation platform with a 270-degree view of the heath. The wooden platform is roughly 9 x 11 feet, and is accessed via a 3-foot wide and 34-foot long ramp. This trail offers a rare opportunity to experience a coastal plateau bog (heath) with its unique and specialized plants and excellent wildlife habitat.
Corea Heath Division is part of the Maine Coastal Islands National Wildlife Refuge (MCINWR), a complex of islands and coastal properties, stretching from York to Washington Counties, managed and preserved primarily for seabird nesting and coastal wading bird habitat. The Refuge includes four mainland units and over 50 islands, protecting a total of over 8,000 acres.
