The Shore and Ridge trails provide a varied hiking experience for visitors looking for a short outing along the water and amidst the woods. The Shore Trail follows Potter's Brook and the shoreline of Upper Pleasant Pond. After a sharp right, hikers find themselves on the Ridge Trail, which leads back to the parking area through the woods.
The hike allows visitors to view or hear some of the following bird species: bald eagle, great blue heron, common loon, black-capped chickadee, common raven, red-eyed vireo, hermit thrush, and Baltimore oriole.
The Webber-Rogers Farmstead Conservation Area is 117 acres of land preserved by the Kennebec Land Trust for the purpose of low-impact human recreation. First settled in the 1790s, the land was has been used for agriculture and nature appreciation ever since.

From the Gardiner area: Take US-201 south from Gardiner. Just over 3 miles south of the I-295 interchange, turn right onto Thorofare Road. Turn left onto Plains Road. The trailhead will be on your left just after the stream. Park on the road.
From the Lewiston area: Take ME-126 east. Just past Waterman Farm Machinery, turn right onto ME-197. At Litchfield Corner (watch for the Brick School on the right), turn left onto Hallowell Road. Turn right onto Plains Road, passing the Fairgrounds on the left. In about three miles, the trailhead will be on the right at the bottom of a long hill. Park on the road.
