Description

This is a great place for a regular, easy, daily jog or stroll. The hard-packed surface with no slopes is suitable for strollers, wheelchairs, and those with mobility issues. If your child is learning to ride a bike there is no safer place to do so! The trails average about 10 feet in width, closer to 12 feet wide by the ballfields, and narrowing to about 8 feet through the woods. There are rocks placed at the trailhead with 7 feet between them. The hard-packed gravel surface does not have any roots or rocks except for one spot of roots, which could be easily navigated over or around by most. There is a section of trail that sometimes gets flooded in wet weather, effectively cutting the width of the trail in half.

The trails include loops around the school ball fields and another loop through the woods. From the school campus, the trail continues on Choate and Stobie Streets to Scott Park on Benton Avenue, then around the park on a paved trail connecting to Two Cent Bridge.

Trailhead Information

From the Winslow end of the Waterville-Winslow Bridge (ME-201), proceed north 0.6 miles along Benton Avenue. Turn right onto Dean Street. A trailhead kiosk is located next to the ball field and track. This parking lot includes designated ADA parking spaces.

The trails can also be approached around the tennis courts back of the High School on Danielson Street, or along a paved trail past the Junior High School.  At this eastern trailhead behind the Junior High School, there is some grass between the gravel parking lot and east end of the loop.
