FILM PROGRAM

FLOW - 13.5 minutes - by David N Stiles - from North Carolina - Short synopsis: Much of the trails in Maine are either mellow, grassy loops or more technical singletrack full of rocks and roots, making it hard for most riders to advance their skills. Erik Mushial and Stuart Johnson, co-owners of Maine Trail Builders, or MTB, are working to change that, by introducing machine-built trails where rake-n-ride was the standard for years. By bringing a crew of trail builders together to learn all about pitch, drainage, and berms, MTB is helping riders of all ages, from beginner to advanced, find their flow and a love for the trail.

THE TRADITIONAL BRAZILIAN FAMILY KATU - 25 minutes - by RODRIGO SENA - from Brazil - Short synopsis: Produced in the year 2007, a photographic essay realized in recognition of the indigenous roots, portrayed twelve adolescents belonging to Eleutério do katu, RN Brasil. Twelve years later the photographer returns to katu in search of these protagonists, now adults, to know about his personal trajectories and his world views.
THE EPHEMERAL ARENA - 13.2 minutes - by Rob Motley, BJ Klophaus - from Wyoming - Short synopsis: Joe Kelsey's definitive guidebook, Climbing and Hiking in the Wind River Mountains, states “The Wind Rivers are not an ice climbing arena.” Beginning in 2019, a small group of amateur climbers from Lander, Wyoming took that as a call to action. Together they set off into their own backyard in search of first known ascents throughout the rugged 100-mile long range.

INTERMISSION

FRONTLINES - 25.6 minutes - by Zac Hoffman, Casey Dubois - from British Columbia - Short synopsis: Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, three emergency room nurses strive for balance in their lives through rock climbing.

CRAFT - 11.5 minutes - by Mattias Evangelista - from Washington - Short synopsis: Professional skiers, Micah Evangelista and Zack Giffin, have based their lives and careers around the mountains, but it's their passions off the hill that keep them balanced and grounded.

MANDATORY GEAR - 15.7 minutes - by Emily Hopcian - from Michigan - Short synopsis: Three women and one man challenge history and stereotypes in adventure racing, competing as a reverse co-ed team in Expedition Oregon, North America’s toughest race.
