Description

The Blackstrap Community Forest Trails include a mix of older snowmobile trails that are generally eroded and in poor shape for hiking or mountain biking and newer hiking/mt. biking singletrack. The more southern trails, accessed from the top of the ridge at the Blackstrap Rd. parking lot, travel through dense, wet forest. There is approximately 300 feet elevation change between the bottom of these trails at the river level and the parking lot. The shorter (blue) loop does not have this magnitude of elevation change. The northern trails are most easily accessed from the Hurricane Road trailhead. The Orange trail along the West Branch of the Piscataqua River is a flat trail and the most direct access to the hill trails on the Blackstrap Ridge. Several new twisty mountain-bike trails loop up and down the hill immediately south of the powerline. Two other trails ascend from the parking lot up the hill. The middle trail is a twisty mountain bike trail that eventually crosses the powerline to enter the system of trails south of the powerline.
