The Armistice Bridge footbridge offers excellent birding for loons, gulls, ducks, ospreys, and eagles, as well as fishing in season. The eastern end of the bridge spans a tidal flat at low tide, where various species of shorebirds feed in the mud.
From the west end of the bridge, the trail follows the wooden dock and concrete Harbor Walk through the middle of Front Street Shipyard’s bustle of business and diversity of boats to the Public Wharf, where there are flower gardens courtesy of Belfast Garden Club, restrooms, and parking.
For a side trip, Main Street Park is up the hill across Front Street from the Harbor Trail, where there is excellent birding behind the wastewater treatment plant.
The Harbor Walk continues from the Public Wharf past Heritage Park, which has picnic tables, a grassy lawn, and a beach at low tide. The Boathouse at the southern terminus of the Harbor Walk offers gardens, public access to the beach, and another vantage point for watching seabirds.

City of BelfastThe south end of this path is located at the Belfast Boathouse, which is located at the end of Commercial Street, 0.25 miles down Commercial Street down from High Street. There is unlimited, free public parking at the Boathouse.
The north end of this path is by the footbridge, with free public parking available at the west end of the bridge. To get to this public lot, take Water Street north, and the lot will be on the right just after Front Street Shipyard. There is additional parking at the northern end at the corner of Bridge Street and Pierce Street, with spaces for about 20 cars.
There are two parking lots midway along the trail; at the public landing at the end of Main Street (time-limited parking); and at Heritage Park (unlimited, free), located near the corner of Main Street and Front Street. The trail may additionally be accessed by foot from numerous locations along the shore in downtown Belfast.
