With the exception of a 2.5 acre abandoned field along Route 1, the preserve is densely forested by stands of hemlock, mixed conifer, old-field pine, and red maple swamps. The trail crosses many streams, which have created distinct ravines throughout the landscape.
Peggity's Trail is accessed from the west trailhead on Herrick Road. A 0.4 mile stem passes through a ravine with a stream at the bottom before rising up around a 0.6 mile loop. The northeast corner of the loop meets up with the Reservoir Trail, which leads 0.5 miles to a 0.4 mile loop to the edge of the Little River Reservoir, with views out over the water. The Reservoir Trail connects to the east trail head via the 0.3 mile Route 1 Trail.
