These family-friendly trails have year-round access and a remote feel. A 0.6-mile spur trail leads from the trailhead, past Rocky Pond, to a trail juction offering options. From this junction the Overlook Trail travels up 0.5 miles to a scenic view of the ponds and on a clear day of Rangeley Lake. Or, make a 1.3-mile loop from this central junction out of the Stream Bed Trail and Saddleback Spur to take in Midway Pond.
The trails are are well-worn paths through mossy forest. Hikers will encounter roots and rocks in the trail surface, and there is a moderate climb (~320 feet elevation gain) up to the overlook.
This is one of three Fly Rod Crosby trails. Named for Cornelia ""Fly Rod" Crosby, these trails span the region she loved, with trailheads at three locations offering a variety of experiences.

High Peaks AllianceFrom Rangeley, turn onto and follow Dallas Hill Road for 2.5 miles. Take a right on Saddleback Mountain Road and follow for 4.6 miles to the base of the ski area. Bear right at the ski lodge and keep left on Rock Pond Road passing condos. The parking area is on the left where the road terminates. The trailhead is beyond the rock barrier at the entrance to the woods.
