The Union Street Greenway links Pettingill Park and Chestnut Park. Starting in Pettingill park, the firm 48” grass path follows the edge of a baseball field and leads to a long, three-flight stairway that goes up and over Dennison Street. After descending three flights, the paved 48” path then passes through an open park with various neighborhood connections. Travelling next to Auburn Police Activities League (PAL) the greenway crosses Chestnut Street and links basketball courts with accessible entrances and ends at Union Street Bypass.
With a firm flat surface, low slopes (under 5%) and cross slopes, the Greenway provides access for a lot of people, with the important exception of the segment that goes up, over and down from Dennison Street via staircases. For folks who are looking for a high level of access, both parks provide possible adventures.

The pathway is accessed from Pettingill Park in Auburn, off Pettingill Park Road. Parking is available in front of Pettingill Pond where the paved path heads off just south of the parking area. The trail can also be accessed from Hampshire Street and Union Street Bypass.
