Join Dr. Loraine Washburn, botanist and conservation biologist, for a guided walk of Woodward Point Preserve. Loraine’s walk will invite participants to see our forests, fields and marshes not only as natural habitats for local biodiversity, but also as players in the solution to global climate change. We will explore natural places in terms of the species that live there, and also as dynamic, breathing systems. Our focus will in part be on carbon: what it is, where it comes from, how plants and animals use it, and what difference this makes to the whole global change story. This walk is appropriate for children and adults and will have hands-on opportunities to know some plants as well as how they work.
