Starting from the Tamarack Trail trailhead, the trail passes through early successional aspen/birch woods. About 250 yards in, there is a large beaver impoundment to the left, with a series of dams and lodges. Bangor Land Trust has installed a successful beaver deceiver to prevent the beavers from damming the culvert running under the road. About 200 yards beyond that, the trail forks and creates a loop (Blue Trail). After about 300 yards the right-hand path curves to the left and follows the bed of the Searsport-Loring pipeline to the old Veazie Railroad bed and a Bangor Land Trust kiosk.
Going south on the railroad bed leads to Northeast Penjajawoc Preserve; however, the Walden Parke Blue Trail heads north on the railroad bed, passing more beaver impoundments, to another kiosk that marks Blue Trail entrance back onto Walden-Parke Preserve. Here the trail has more up and down slopes and passes through intermediate growth mixed spruce/fir/white pine forest as it makes its way back to meet itself at the fork.
The Blue Trail is marked with blue diamonds bearing the Bangor Land Trust logo. Single-track trails cross the Blue Trail at a number of points.
The Blue Trail is generally wide enough to two people abreast to walk or ski. These woods are full of wildflowers in the spring.

Bangor Land TrustFrom downtown Bangor go out Essex Street almost to the Orono town line, and turn right on Walden Parke Way at a sign that says Edgewood Walden-Parke Preserve. If coming from Orono this is a left turn just past the town line. Turn right on Tamarack Trail. Follow Tamarack Trail to the end, and park along the edge of the cul-de-sac.
To access via the trail network at Bangor City Forest, go west through the City Forest to the old Veazie Railroad bed and walk south (turn right) along the railroad bed until you come to one of the two Bangor Land Trust Blue Trail kiosks on the railroad bed.
